Project: Pereh hotel
Team: Architect Mashat Katz
Location: Golan Heights
Size: 8 dunams
The resort is located on the ruins of the French customs house that was established following the Sykes-Picot agreement in 1919 and sat on the Haifa-Damascus road.
In 1967 the Bauhaus houses in the customs house were abandoned and since then they stood abandoned, until recently when, out of vision and courage, a wild hotel (Pereh) was built out of the ruins. The buildings have been renovated, designed and polished to perfection with high ceilings, reconstructed wood floors, authentic stone walls and indoor and outdoor furniture combining wood, natural stones and iron.
Another building was used as horse stables and now is being used as the hotel’s lobby and lounge.
The hotel overlooks the Golan Mountains.
The hotel opens in July 2021.
