Library at “Mevo’ot HaNegev” school

Project: The project of building a library at “Mevo’ot HaNegev” school
Team: Architect Lidia Modelevski | Architect Golan Almog
Client: bnei shimon regional council
Location:Kibbutz Shoval
Size: 250 sqm

The shape of the building is like a shell that faces a rounded facade towards the school. The entrance connects to the main path of the school, the entrance plaza is emphasized by a beam that continues the round facade and diagonal columns. The central space, the reference space, is separate from the book storage area and is covered on the outside with pottery shards that give it an organic clam-like character and distinguish it from the other functions. The central space was designed so that it would be free of distractions and could also be used as a large space for gatherings, etc.
Southern windows around the perimeter of the building bring natural lighting into all the spaces. Their design prevents the entry of direct radiation and thus protects the books.
